Highly Sprung

Owned by Jerry kent for the past six years. The boat was origanaly called Spring Heeled Jack (Victorian rapist and murderer) Jaguar moulded in 1988 with Yanmar 1GM10 inboard and shaft to a folding prop. Much spent over the years and I have added fridge and Webasto heating to keep the family happy. The boat is based at Itchenor in Chichester Harbour Uk and cruised mainly in the Solent with Bembridge IOW being a family favourite.

Slinky Spring

Slinky Spring is owned by Ian Reid aka Slinky, she is one of the five on Coniston Water in the heart of the Lake District UK. She is a 1988 Jaguar produced boat. There are no distinguishing numbers on her. The engine is the original Yanmar 1Gm10. She has been called Tweety pie and Thalia amongst other names in the past. When I bought her she was in the Clyde and had previously been based in the Crinan canal. I have added a spray hood and cockpit canopy and a stack pack with lazyjacks to make things simpler as I am normally single handed (or as good as).

Spring Tied

We are based in Cowes on the Isle of Wight UK and Spring Tied is kept on a pile mooring in the river Medina about 300 mtrs South of the floating bridge. I am Sailing Secretary of East Cowes Sailing Club and We race twice a week, On Tuesday evenings with the Island Sailing Club and on Thursdays with my own Club. Spring Tied was previously called "Georgy Buoy" she is also a 1988 Jaguar built version with the dreaded 1GM10 that shakes your teeth out. I have modified the chaiplates to my own design as one of the previous owners(not the one below) had a go & bodged it a bit. I bought her from an old mate of mine he is a sailmaker so youd think I would have new sails. Not a chance they are mostly modified ones from other boats The main is from an Echels that was only used once as it was a bit heavy for them, and I have a Kevlar/mylar genoa. goodness knows what that was from but they are all in good nick. The Kite is off of his previous boat which was called Berzerker and has a character from Asterix holding a club on it.

Magic Spell

Magic Spell is owned by Jim Mc Gowan, and was bought in 1997. Ian Reid of Slinky Spring advised Jim prior to buying. This is his first boat and he still has lots to learn.

Magic Spell is based in fahan marina which is in lough swilly, (a sheltered sea inlet at the northern end of county Donegal in the Republic of Ireland).

Jim is a member of lough swilly yacht club loughswillyyc.com

Jupiter

Jupiter is one of the other Springs on Coniston water along with Slinky.  Previous name was Helix. It was renamed by the previous owner as he owned  a company called Jupiter and we like it, although its not very "spring"  related. I think she was made in 1989 although there aren't any makers  numbers at all on her. I have added a sprayhood, lazybag/jacks and  dodgers. We replaced the sails for some new Kemps which are great  although we haven't used them too much as we have a two year old and a new  one due any day now. We also have heating, well when it works! One thing I have noticed is that our pushpit and pulpit are more substantial than any other Springs that we have seen. Anyone know why? It has the  original Yanmar too. A great starter in summer but not in the winter.

Spring Fever

Chris Allen owns Spring Fever, based in Southsea. She was built in 1988 and he has had her since 1991. Chris says"Although at my age (late 50's) I ought to be sailing something more sedate, but the Spring is just too much fun and frustration to want to change. I'm hoping to sail round Britain in her next year. Sadly SWMBO isn't in to sailing so it could be a solo affair"

Spring Wind

Peter Grant owns Spring Wind based at Bosham in Chichester Harbour UK. Peter and his Spring were featured in Practical Boat Owner

during 2007 in a used boat review.

Breath of Spring

David Metcalfe bought Breath of Spring around Christmas 2007, it's a 1988 built boat and appears to have been very lightly sailed over the years. David keeps her on the River Medway in Kent Uk.He says "I have a lot to learn about sailing a Spring it's quite a bit different to the Jaguat 21 I had before. My club runs some non serious races throughout the season. I started off the season last in the first couple but things seem to be improving."

Stardust

Mike Wilson is now the proud owner of an MG Spring 25 "Stardust", He purchased the boat in Guernsey in March and sailed her back to Hamble on the 8th April. Stardust has a swinging mooring on the river Hamble andmay be spotted around the Solent this summer.

Gibsind

Gibslind was built in a 1989 Build, no 2 out of Northshore. Gareth Astley has owned her for 10 years, and keeps it at Town quay Southampton UK (where the Red jet ferries depart for Isle of Wight). The boat has an interesting history. The previuos owner had hardly used her, when Gareth started to sail her hard she started cracking around the chainplates, and leaked badly around the deck to hull join. She went back to Northshore in 2000/2001 where they split hull from deck, resealed and rejoined the two parts. They also discovered that the underdeck tie plates for the chainplates ahd been fitted 'round the wrong way' so instead of the shrouds being in-line with the underdeck tie bars, the tie plates were acting as 'levers' and causing the deck cracking problems. They opened up the hull liner around the chain plates and repaired/relaminated. So a big spend but boat is now fully sorted.

Sparkle

Bob Lawton recently bought "Sparkle" he says "....nice to see a dedicated forum. I need to learn how to sail it competently, anyone need a crew for next years round the island race, I would love to take part and maybe learn a thing or two". Sparkle is based at Findochty on the Moray Firth in Scotland

Earrach

Roger Morrison bought 'Earrach' (Gaelic for 'Springtime') in 2009 she was formerly registered as 'Leviathan' and is a 1992 build 4 berth, Northshore Spring 25, hull # 176. SSR 108512.

She's presently afloat on Lake Windermere, and is about to be moved to the Clyde where she used to be based, albeit her first owner was a German in Hamburg.

She has the Volvo Penta 2001 saildrive motor. She has been used as a 'caravan' and needs a new main (ordered).

She survived the Cumbrian floods of Nov 2009 with slight gel-coat cosmetic injury, while 20 yachts on fixed pontoons around her sank!

On arrival at the Clyde she will be associated with RGYC and thus fly a blue ensign.Look out for 'Earrach' cruising the Hebrides and on various start lines on the Firth of Clyde in 2010.

Highlander

David Green bought the MG 25 Spring - Highlander - two years ago. It is based at Mylor Yacht Harbour, Cornwall, UK. It is a fairly standard boat, in excellent condition  and has a Vetus 10hp diesel.

Khamsin

Moored in Grimsby fish docks, Phil & Kathy's m g spring Khamsin sails mostly in the Humber & North sea.Thay have owned her for the past twelve years.
